Crazy Pants: fruit print

I know it's been a trend for a year, but I didn't want to buy any print pants. My closet is absolutely busting at the seams. No purchases for a while. BUT... I can't help sewing new things. I use reclaimed fabrics and patterns to make something new and unique. All part of the NO WASTE rule at my house. Next time you are gonna toss something, think about how you can re-purpose it in some way. Clothes that I can't re-cut into something new, I donate to Goodwill and when I do buy from thrift stores, I see it as a trade for what I was able to donate. Anyway... back to the pants. I was gifted this fabric, so I decided to make some simple pants. I love polka dots, so I figure I'd wear these, and could pair them with a variety of solid T's and sweaters. They are fun and funny. I love them.

Silly fruit print pants.
Here the pattern. 60's separates set - love it.
Have a happy day. <3

Stripes and Flowers

Stripes are amazing. Right up there with polka dots! Well, that may be pushing it too far. Think of stripes as a neutral to be mixed with all kinds of prints. I wasn't sure about this outfit. A bit "weekend birthday party" to wear to work. But it felt so fun I just had to do it. I felt fabulous all day. Isn't that the point of dressing up? To lift the spirits and feel fancy? I think so.

Mixed prints: navy

I am loving NAVY! And this "dressing up" project and the blog are helping me be more brave and mix patterns. Today was such a success. This little cropped polka-dot sweater has taken some getting used to, but now I am just loving it and wanting to mix it with a bunch of things that I wouldn't have considered a year ago. That's progress. This patterned dress is comfortable and pretty and with the little sweater and red shoes and bag, I felt so put-together today. Dressing right can really bring about a whole positive outlook. Have a Happy Day.

It's NOT the 4th of July

Red, white, and blue are always in style - patriotic in America, France, Puerto Rico (which is America) Chile, and Russia (probably more countries but these are the flags that pop to mind). I was excited to pair these prints today. It's always a challenge to pair different prints - and so FUN! These are both bright pieces and similar in texture and weight so they just go together.  A fun outfit; I feel great today. How about you?
